i personally think that the way the government is handling the taxpaper's money is horrible. i don't completely disagree with budget cuts but i don't think its right to take away from the low and middle class people. the government is taking away from public schools when they already don't have all the necessities they need. i believe that the real problem here is that all the money is being spent on supporting this war in iraq that has been going on for about eight years now. money is being spent on aircraft and sending more troops to iraq. i personally think it's time to bring the troops home and start spending our money on our country. as i tried to research budger cuts, i was unable to find the answers i wanted. i have no idea what exactly the government is spending taxpayer's money on, but it seems that some of it is being used on unreasonable things, like converting our tv's to hd. in 2009, we are spending an approximate 700 million on military purposes when our school's are in need of teachers and our citizens that depend on programs like welfare and healthcare. the music and sports programs that keep children out of trouble are being taken away.

Debate #2
In our country the United States of America money is being cut from funding certain projects and thing that we need all over the world. Some of the money cuts are for schools, like in California Arnold Swartzenegger is cutting millions of dollars from schools forcing them to cut classes and teachers. Other cuts are being made for parks and recreational places, for instance on fiesta island they took away the bon-fire pits for a short time till someone privately paid for them to be kept around. In reality these cuts do save money but there are better cuts to be made instead of taking away things that people love most.
I think that government official’s pay should be cut some because they are being paid way to much money to make poor decisions for today’s people. They get to go on lavish trips and spend our tax money on things that we can not afford while they try “so hard” to figure out where our money is going to and how we could spend it better. THEY are part of the problem and until our government can get its act together they should not be paid as much. Our government official’s are very smart which is for the most part why they got put into office and can make the large sums of money they do make, yet of we can’t afford to give them that pay they should not be receiving it. Obviously someone isn’t doing their job that they are getting paid so much to do.
Budget cuts that I do not agree with are in schools. Many programs like choir are being cut from schools. If all of them are eliminated we will not have creative people in our future. We will have no one to design our buildings or sing on our stages because nothing in school will be inspiring them to do so. Many of these classes have been cut already or are going to be soon, and America cannot afford to have dull people in our future. If we close doors of creativity the colorful world we know and love will go to waste because everyone will be so busy working, and there will be no entertainment.
Another cut is in the park and recreational system. Less money is being put into parks to clean and keep them running. These places are were we grew up playing, and played with our friends. When we no longer can go to a park for a picnic with friends and family because its too dirty you know the budget cuts have gone too far. Money needs to not be spent as frivolously on things that do not matter.
We bailed out big insurance companies that used our money for bonuses and going on big vacations. This was all a scam. All of the money we are putting into bailing out isn't being used the correct way. Once our money is used we can not go back and get the money back and our country is already so in debt we need to find a way to get ourselves out of this hole.
I think that budget cuts can be good if the right things are cut, but cutting things like school that is supposed to better the people of tomorrow, or cutting costs in our community that are used for family does not make sense. We need our roads paved and streets clean, not wealthy government officials.

School Budget Cuts
Schools have been around for a very long time. We all know that the United States economy is at an all time low but the worst we can do now is take money away from our school systems. Schools are the only way we can make our youth strong for later on in the future. The youth now will later be our presidents, lawyers, police officers and more. By us trying to spare a couple dollars now will only affect them on later.
Schools have been cutting programs to spare a couple bucks but is it really worth it?. Imagine high school without football. It wouldn’t be a high school atmosphere, would it. The economy is far away from getting better. We are now reaching the ten percent unemployment and climbing. There is much more alternatives to saving money instead of taking money away from our children. I was lucky enough to graduate from high school on the year 2009. People say the worst is barely starting. People have already told me how the budget cuts have affected them. No public transportation for students anymore, no more summer school and lower quality lunch food. The food was already horrible imagine it even more.
The budget cuts have a positive side to them too. The money that is being saved will be a backup if the worst happens. They are doing a good thing by thinking ahead of time. This economy may stabilize itself overtime or it may get even worse. We digged ourselves into this hole, now we have to dig ourselves back out. Many alternatives are out there to save our money but we have to make the right choices. Schools will always be in our planet no matter were we go in the world. Taking money from our schools will just have its effects later on in the future. The youth of America is in our schools and that youth will become our worlds leaders one day. We are all passing through a rough time now a days but if we help each other , we will all be fine.

Cutting budget in school
Cutting budget is the thing that nobody wants it to happen. In this economic crisis, the cutting budget in school can’t be avoided. Why do we have to cut budgets in school? Considering that the majority of the population of California is dominated by those who can only afford public school education, it is almost going to be useless for parents to send their children to school. They might think about what they would gain from being at the school. Instead they would just allow their children to work, which is the gravest type of exploitation that a child could experience, being just young.
There has been school demonstrations in several districts of California participated in by the teachers, parents and school administrators shouting in anger against the governor. Cutting of the educational budget is fast approaching and realization of this upon enforcement in 2008-2009 shall be the peak at which the protesters and the accused should be a lot more prepared. The proposed budget cut rooted from the governor's 10 across-the-board cuts to provide venue for state social programs 4 .8 billion is to be deprived from the secondary education, whereas 1 .3 billion from the higher education will be harvested by him. This will save the governor
from the deficit when he declared fiscal emergency to account for the state project shortage of funds.
The federal government has the power to cutback the funding of student loans. There are several different ways the government can go about doing this. One way is to keep the amount of each loan the same and reduce the number of loans granted. Students that belong to a low-income family will be greatly affected. Cutbacks in the funding of student loans have several effects. One effect is less fortunate individuals will miss the opportunity of attending college. Therefore, cutting the student loan budget is also the way that affect to education quality of school.
We can do some afford to raise school budgets. Instead we do cut budget, why don’t we think how to pick up the school budget? For example, School district can save millions dollars by doing less state and district test. Cut down on them, do on truly essential ones, or combine them, so there’s less. Therefore, we can save money in this way. In extracurricular activities budget, the pay-to-play fee should be contributed by parents or families. The paying instills a sense of people value now. Moreover, we can use the cutting budget to transfer to another type of budget to get more benefits from them. For instance, cutting the transportation budget is a good way to save money and protect environment. Moreover, we can get more money from cutting transportation budget and transfer to the sport fund to make the kids healthier.
In conclusion, cutting budgets can save money for school, but it also creates some difficulties in education quality. We can do some way to cut budgets in school, and we also do some ways to raise school budgets. That is the way that we can contribute for our school. I think we should do anything so that our school will not cut budgets. The government should have some policies to protect the teachers and students’ right.

How to Deal with the Public Schools’ Declining Funds
In the midst of our current fiscal situation, our government has done a great job of spending a lot of money it doesn’t have. Our country is in more debt than ever, so therefore Big Brother has to do his best to accumulate as much tax money as possible, without too many new taxes, so of course the best way to decrease our debt with out making taxpayers too angry is to simply spend less money. For reasons I don’t understand, our public schools seem to be one of the first places that our government want to cut spending from. If we must cut funding from our schools, I’d like to argue what we can afford to lose, and what must be kept. I believe that Physical Education is unnecessary and a waste of school time. I believe it is important that we keep our classrooms air conditioned or heated in order to promote a more comfortable learning environment. I also strongly feel that all janitorial services need to be kept well funded.
Physical Education is probably the most transparent of all courses. Students who are out of shape and not interested in physical activity are not going to suddenly see the flaws in their lifestyles and become more active due do PE. For students who are already active and in good shape, PE is just a free credit. I feel it is a waste of valuable school time and a waste of valuable taxpayers’ money. I believe we should eliminate this course, but keep after school sports so that students can choose if they want to be involved or not. If it is necessary, I believe it is not too much to ask that these extracurricular activities be funded in part by the students or their parents. Paying a coach’s salary is very expensive and if a student wants to be part of a team, they should help out in paying their salary. It may not seem fair, but it’s better than taking money from classrooms.
Electricity is a very expensive resource, and our schools must choose wisely about how they use it, But the last thing we should do is eliminate space heaters and air conditioning units. In order for our students to learn optimally, a comfortable room temperature is vital. we should do more, however, to keep teachers from using such machines when unnecessary. I believe we should have simultaneously controlled thermostats, where only one unit controls the temperature of every classroom in the entire school to keep teachers from abusing their power. Teachers sure like to use up hundreds of dollars of electricity in their classrooms, where at the same time they probably wouldn’t do the same thing in their own homes, where they have to pay the bill.
It seems that many teachers across the nation are having to vacuum and disinfect their own classrooms because one or two of the custodians got laid off. This is one of those things I can’t seem to understand, because a teacher’s salary exceeds a custodian’s. We need our academic warriors to spend their time focusing on the education of our children, and not cleaning up after them. By having them do janitorial work we are wasting more many than we are saving. It is extremely important that we keep our schools as sanitary as possible so that students will be more conscious about their education, and so they can stay healthy. It’s no question that scholars will perform better in a clean environment rather than a dirty one.
The basic message I’m trying to send is that if public schools are going to have limited budgets, they must focus on the things that have the biggest effect on our students psychologically. There are many programs that are nice to have, and may have some small benefit, but it is common sense that if we are going to lose some of them, that we must keep the ones that really matter. Children are our future and how their brains develop during their years in grade school will change the course of their life and have an enormous effect on the future of our economy.

Budget Cut
When I hear the word budget cut the first thing that comes to my mind is LESS.
Not long ago the economy started to decrease its budget. We are not talking about a few hundred dollars, but nor thousands. More like billions. It affected us all. Today I am going to focus on school budget cuts.
School funding is not good and we all know that. Many people have been affected by it. From teaches to staff to students. According to the Department of Finance school budget cut will be cutting 17% more that what it already is. I don’t know what it will be like if to me it already is terrible. We college students as well as its staff are going through a lot.
There has been an increase in fees. Classes are already too full, and students have been cutting back in classes due to the fact that they have been eliminating some classes the other ones are already overcrowded. It is not fair that it is taking college students longer than planned to complete their degrees because of these cut backs.
Teachers have been taken some of their classes if not all because there is not enough money to pay for their teaching. My personal Growth teacher says she is not teaching that class any longer because they were going to hand it over to another teacher.
In conclusion, I think that school budget cut is bringing everyone down. Not only us students, but teachers as well.

Schools across the nation are tightening their school budgets, making them cut certain program to make room for "necessary" classes. All over the country, school districts are facing tight budgets that are causing the districts to cut non-academic programs. Not only are we losing programs but teachers are getting laid off. It’s funny you would think schools would be safe from economic crisis. It’s pretty noble of some of those teachers to take early retirement to help other teachers possibly keep their jobs. Deep budget cuts are forcing California school districts to lay off thousands of teachers, expand class sizes, close schools, eliminate bus service, cancel summer school programs, and possibly shorten the academic year. However, when these budget cuts come along, one of the first things that is cut is the music program to enable the school district. But why cut the music program when it has been shown that music helps develop better social skills, leadership qualities, and improve academics? For example think about one of your favorite songs. I bet that you can remember the lyrics like it was your street address. If you could apply these kinds of memorizing techniques to courses such as history, science or math, think of how much further students could get in their learning. The reasons school boards use to justify cutting music classes is to put more emphasis on reading and math to boost test scores. That is not a good enough reason. The VH1 Save the Music Foundation is "a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring instrumental music education in American public schools, and raising awareness about the importance of music as part of each child's complete education, " according to its Web site. The organization helps jump-start music programs in schools that cannot afford them. Since 1997, they have provided $43 million worth of new musical instruments to deserving students in more than 1,600 public schools nationwide. No schools have threatened cutting music locally, but we can't be complacent. It's time for administrators to listen to musical students for a change.
Teachers are greatly affected by educational budget cuts in many ways. The most obvious issue would have to be less pay. Teachers that have been working for years and deserve to get a raise wont. The teachers that are slightly new will be reduced to close to nothing. Another reason is less professional development opportunities, Yes it might not seem like a big deal because its only teachers benefit. But the truth is teaching is like any other profession. It becomes bland without continual self improvement. Teachers can also be forced to move to a new school because their current no longer offers the course they teach. Of increase class size; if there are not enough students to warrant the positions then those with the lowest seniority typically have to move to new positions and/or schools.
How Will Schools Budget Cuts Affect Parents? The children will most definitely be affected, teachers taking money out of their own pockets for school supplies, which as of right now, most parents are provide school materials at the beginning of the school year. Another proposed change will be to have a 4 day school day calendar, which will affect most working parents, meaning parents will have to come up with ways to have their children taken care of, and in some cases leave them alone at home due to not being able to pay for babysitting.
Is this the kind of thing we want our educators to have to deal with? You can imagine how nerve racking it would be to deal with this kind of budget. All normal lesson plans would have to be thrown out the window in order to stretch your funds to last the whole year. What possibilities are open to students interested in these subjects? I would find it hard for a child to get interested in playing an instrument with no instruments available. Budget cuts not only effects the teacher’s jobs but the children seduction and the parents daily life.

Budget Cuts
The state of California has been dealing with budget cuts for a long time. However due to the stock market crashing and the economy going down hill it has worsen the problem. Our state government has been making some very tough decisions which haven’t been to popular with its residents. Some of the hardest programs that are being hit are education and health care for low income families. Something I would like them to cut back on is their own salaries. Most politicians make good money, some even make over six figures.
Education is very important its is essential for the country. Sadly as time goes by more and more programs are being cut. Teachers are getting laid off which ends up with more crowded classes. More crowded classes means more students in a classroom per teacher which makes it harder to learn because students aren’t getting the needed attention from their teachers. Supplies are being limited. This means that most teachers are having to buy their own supplies for their classes because there is not enough money to buy what is needed in the classroom for their students to learn appropriately. Art and music programs are being cut in schools, so with those programs being cut students are missing out on the learning experiences and creativity. These budget cuts have also affected community colleges and some universities and has affected financial aid for students. This means that because less students are receiving financial aid; therefore less students are going to college. A lot of students depend on financial aid to get them thru college and with these programs being cuts students are stuck and have been forced to drop out. The government says that our children our the future. The government wants students to go on to college and to succeed, but they are making harder to do so. Education should not be cut, it should be the last resort.
Health care for low income families and senior citizens have been cut. This is crucial because now they cant even go to the doctor for a check up because they can’t afford it specially those people have chronically or terminal illnesses which can’t afford their medicine. Leaving them with no option b to wait and see if they will live another day. With out health care people are more vulnerable to illnesses and diseases because they will never know what going on inside of their bodies.
The state government is trying to figure out what programs to cut in order to save some money. They are cutting programs that are much needed which is very wrong. However they haven’t mentioned cutting their own jobs or salaries. Most of these big politicians have cozy salaries some making over six figures a year. We all know the saying “grab the bull by its horns.” they need to cut their own salaries and freeze raises and bonuses because their paychecks are paid by our tax money. They should not be living in luxury when state is in a financial crisis. These guys are getting rid of the low paying jobs which have minimal effect unless they are a lot of jobs being lost; which is what we are seeing. It will be much simpler if they cut their own salary by a reasonable amount. Freeze their bonus. If they did this they will save so many programs and jobs.
These are very difficult times and probably more still to come, but we need to make the appropriate cuts. Not just because education uses a lot of money means that this is where we need to make the cuts. Education is essential for growth, so its healthcare. With out healthcare for low income families and the elderly their lives become that much harder. Those politicians who are making these decisions need to take a salary cut and freeze their bonuses because this will save more jobs and programs that benefit everybody. Once the appropriate cuts are being made slowly we will start to see everything improving.

The Budget Crisis
In California, we have faced problems with debt in recent years. Due to budgetary problems, the government has been forced to cut payments to many institutions, including schools. As a result, teachers are being forced to leave while the class sizes grow larger. It is important that we find an alternative way to cut spending on something other than school. It is important to find a long lasting solution.
Firstly, the California’s budget must be balanced because it is a requirement of the state’s constitution. In order to meet the shortfall, and balance the budget, the budget has been cut by $15 billion including $6 billion from schools, $3billion from colleges, and $1.2 billion from prisons. Medi-cal, a state health program from the poor will be cut by $1.3 billion. The impact of these cuts will be great. With fewer teachers, the classroom size will increase. Another problem will be colleges dropping courses. There will be fewer choices for students pursuing higher education. Prisoners will be getting released from jail early before their sentences have been completed, putting criminals back on the streets. The cuts to Medi-Cal will reduce the health benefits to the disadvantaged and poor.
The root of California’s financial problem is the result of the government’s overspending. From 1990-2008, the state’s income has increased by 167 percent while the spending has increased by 181 percent. A solution to the problem is to restore The Gann Spending limit from the 1980’s. This bill restricted state spending increases so that they would be in step with population growth and inflation. The bill prevented California from a pattern of financial chaos in the 1981 recession by limiting government spending. It also forced lawmakers to refund $1.1 billion in excess revenue back to the taxpayers in 1987. The bill lost its effectiveness in 1990 when it was diluted with the passing of Proposition 111, which excluded spending limits for infrastructure projects, disaster relief and others. If the Gann spending limits were still in place, it is projected that there would have been a $15 billion surplus for this year.
Instead, California has a $26.3 billion budget deficit. To meet this shortfall, the budget had to be cut by $15 billion. The signing of the budget was delayed as politicians battled as to whether to cut services or to raise taxes. Neither one is a popular option. Typically the Democrats favored additional taxes, while the Republicans tended to be pro cutbacks. After Governor Schwartzenegger’s budget was rejected, the lawmakers fought long and hard over what would stay and what would go. Finally the budget passed with no tax increases, but with drastic cuts. The budget cuts were chosen over tax increases as the lesser of two evils. There is a problem with increasing taxes and fees in the midst of the troubled national economy. There is 11.6 % unemployment (up from the normal 5%) and that brings in less income tax revenue. Unemployment also brings about less consumer spending. People are buying only what they truly need when they do shop. Less consumer spending means less sales tax revenue. Also, the record home foreclosures in the state have resulted in reduced revenue from taxes on home sales. With fewer people working, fewer people spending, and decreased real estate revenue coming in, additional taxes would be particularly unpleasant and may not even fill the gap.
Although cut backs are maybe preferable to increase taxes, the better solution is to reinstate spending limits for all government programs. If the government doesn’t have money to spend on the projects, then it won’t be able to get into debt. It has worked in the past and it can work today.

Budget cuts on schools in California
In this economic crisis, everyone is working their way to sustain their statuses. Companies will decrease expands while people decrease their outflow of money. Same as our government, it cuts much of it’s expands in order to balance the deficits. I believe cutting expands is the right way to deal with our deficit. However, cutting budget on schools isn't sound like the best way to do so. This act will have a long term negative effect in our society and our economy.
The Budget cut in school isn't a right way to do so. Our economy is actually supported by our education. In order to maintain our economic growth, we need more and more well trained employees to do the job for us. Our educational system is the main way to satisfy the need. However, if we cut budget in schools, the schools will not be able to continue provide well trained workers. Because the budget cuts, some schools need to close down some major department. For example, Mesa College reduced the classes in all subjects; so many students aren't be able to take the classes they actually need, which cause their time to transfer to other colleges. Therefore, budget cut isn't the right to do so.
This isn't the most effective way to solve our financial problem. There are some organizations in the government get most of the funding, but have less contribution to the society than education. For example, NASA, the organization that concerns with spacecraft and space travel. If the government closes NASA for one year, we will clear up our deficits in one year approximately. Same as welfare, there are lots of people abuse the welfare system and waste our tax money. There are lot of people don't really need the welfare to live. If we stop paying to those aren't qualify and paying to those do qualify, we will not only successfully save up our money but to rebuild our organization's system.
In conclusion, cuts expands on schools isn't the right way to balance the deficits.

Budget Cuts
Music is highly beneficial in a school curriculum. But recently, budget cuts have been made to that part of the education system. Many people are for these cuts. I would try to persuade an audience against such actions. I would say it is important because music study improves scholastic achievement, promotes student involvement and improves the health and well-being of listenteners. I say the budget cuts are gonna hurt democrates the most.
I would present testimony from the community and students. “If you look deep enough you will see music; the heart of nature being everywhere music.” Quoted from Thomas Carlyle, a famous teacher during the Victoria era. Music is an integral part of the community, if it was lost we would surely lose ourselves. After all, where would America be without it’s national Anthem? Music can be both entertaining and enlightening. Songs such as “The Wearing of the Green.”, an uplifting Irish ballad about the heralding tale of the Irish rebellion during the 1700s. The Irish were executed for wearing green. Because of songs like that, their history will not be forgotten.
Music gets children involved in the school environment. Students are not bored or restless. A study of 237 second grade children used piano keyboard training and newly designed math software to demonstrate improvement in math skills. The group scored 27% higher on proportional math and fractions tests than children that used only the math software. Graziano, Amy, Matthew Peterson, and Gordon Shaw, "Enhanced learning of proportional math through music training and spatial-temporal training." Neurological Research 21 (March 1999). Another important point is that it doesn’t matter what a child’s race is or if he is wealthy. Everyone can benefit from music. In an analysis of U.S. Department of Education data on more than 25,000 secondary school students (NELS:88, National Education Longitudinal Survey), researchers found that students who report consistent high levels of involvement in instrumental music over the middle and high school years show "significantly higher levels of mathematics proficiency by grade 12." This observation holds regardless of students' socio-economic status, and differences in those who are involved with instrumental music vs. those who are not is more significant over time. Catterall, James S., Richard Chapleau, and John Iwanaga. "Involvement in the Arts and Human Development: General Involvement and Intensive Involvement in Music and Theater Arts." Los Angeles, CA: The Imagination Project at UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies, 1999.
Music is beneficial to health. There is such a thing as music therapy. It has many uses. For instance, it is used to treat patients who have suffered strokes. The brain responds to music stimuli. Music therapy has been shown to improve mood and increase the patients motivation. Music can also make the elderly healthier. It has been shown to decreases in anxiety, depression, and loneliness by just taking keyboard lessons. Dr. Frederick Tims, reported in AMC Music News, June 2, 1999
Overall I would say that democrates would be for budget cuts because their budget would be affected. Republicans would not be affected because of their feelings about government. Republicans want less government. A perfect example is the district of Cornado, California. The Coronado high school was not affected by the budget cuts because, for the most part, it is funded by the parents in the area. Parents pay a nominal fee for participation in the artistic program, it features University of California college credits. That is typical of the low-budget, low overhead mentality that the Republican party favors.
The uses for music are endless. But all this shows that music has important benefits. Music can help children in school. It makes their lives not only more enjoyable but also more productive. It has even shown health benefits. Music is important to everyone and shouldn’t be cut from schools. These points would help me dissuade an audience for cutting music in schools.

Budget Cuts: Which is right and which is wrong?
How would you feel if you suddenly lose some of the benefits you used to have when the economy wasn’t in the crisis? Because of the downfall of the economy, the government proposes budget cuts plan and this cause panic to people in the United States. The Democrats and the Republicans have different ideas about what to cut in California. It seems like they want to cut some of the public services like school, senior services and healthy family program, and some other public programs. I strongly disagree with the cuts. Budget cut in school will force teachers to be layoff.
The Republican wants to have a budget cut on education program, and the Democrats seem to go along with this cut. They want to restore the educational money that is being cut when the economy is rebounds. I strongly oppose this cut. School budget cut will force some of the teachers to be layoff. When there are not enough teachers in school, students will be cram into a small classroom with only one teacher. Do you think students will get a good education out of such environment like that? I don’t think they will. The classroom atmosphere will more likely be social surrounding than an educational environment. Students who want to learn won’t be able to learn with many students who are apathy about learning. It will affect the outcome of those hardworking students, in public schools as well as in junior colleges. Moreover, it will get college students in debts. Along with school, there will be a cut in senior services.
Democrats include senior services in their budget cut plan. Imagine if your mother or your father is a senior, how do you feel when you find out that some of their benefits will be taken away? Of course, you’ll be upset. It’s another form of discrimination. Just because they are seniors, because they are old and will soon die, they will be cut from some of the benefits they used to receive. That’s unreasonable. They had to pay tax when they were working at their young age just like every single person who lives in this nation. They deserve to get some advantages for those working hours in their lives. No one has the right to take away benefits from seniors. Other nations will disgrace us, will disgust us, and will look at us as betrayers. They’ll think that we only use people to make profit for the country; and when they are useless, we don’t even care about them. Is that what you want other countries to look at us? If not, then we shouldn’t have this cut. Seniors and children were the people need the most care. Not only they plan to cut senior services, but the Democrats also want to cut healthy family program.
Healthy family program is a program which provides subsided medical coverage for hundreds of thousands of poor children. As you may already knew that the world is in an economy crisis. Many businesses are going bankrupt or going out of business. This means, there are many people out there who will lose their current jobs, and will hardly find a job within a short period of time due to this economy crisis. It’s not that hard for wealthy families and those middle-class families to pay for medical expenses, but what about those labor-class families? It’s inevitable for people to not get medicine or not go to see doctors when they are sick. If the Democrats cut this program, the children of those working-class won’t be able to pay for the medical expenses, especially in this situation where majority people are losing their jobs. Not only children who have family will suffer, but what about those orphans in the orphanages? They need this program in this time more than you can imagine because they don’t have parents to support them. Health is money, or even more valuable. We need these children to make a difference in the future; therefore, we must take care of them.
Public services such as schools, senior services and health services for poor children shouldn’t be cut. School is a place where a country can turn ordinary kids into talented people with best environment and complete educational materials. Seniors earn their enjoyable life and services as rewards for their many years of hard work and contributions to the country. Children are one nation’s future, so they need extra care. Depriving some of these public services is barbaric. United States was once known as the best medical provider as well as educational system compares to other countries in the world, and people are proud to be here. But if we cut these systems, they will be upset, and the country will soon turns out to be chaotic because of all the disagreements and protests among groups of people.

With an economic crisis many things suffer. One of things suffering that we are seeing in this recession is budget cuts. As Californians we are seeing it everywhere. Such as; schools, work, and businesses around us. While celebrities are still living their plush lifestyles and police officers are riding around in top of the line vehicles with top of the line technologies.
The biggest effects of the budget cuts we are seeing are in the school systems. The fundamental building blocks that we acquire as humans we develop in education and school. So what are we doing to our offspring and our future if we cut many programs and money from our schools? What we are doing is eliminating the resources that are available to our children. According to the California Progress Report, they plan on cutting $4 billion from the schools budget. With that cut a crucial amount of teachers will be laid off. Also they plan on eliminating 4 weeks of school or if not that then increases the classroom size by 23 percent. The Sacramento Bee stated a plan to eliminate courses that are required to graduate high school and eliminate help for programs for low-performing schools. With all of these cuts and ideas where does that leave our children? Laying off an abundant amount of teachers would increase the classroom size in every school. Is there not a safety rule for our children that include a student teacher ratio? Not only is it a safety thing, but having smaller classrooms also give the students a more of a one on one with their educational provider. I believe that if classroom sizes were too large that would set an increase for low scores. Without that one on one time students will have to rely on themselves to do the work and not get extra help. Cutting programs that aid in the help of low-performing schools help no one. If they were to do that then schools and the students would go down hill. Low-performing schools look to the help of the programs that the budget includes. With out them students with the need of extra help would not receive it and would be stuck. I think that with that cut the number of students going to college would drop. Why would a student who got no help in school want to continue in higher education? They would be lost upon entering school.
Another area affected by the budget cuts is the work force. Many people who have spent most of their lives in one area of wok are now losing their jobs. People that had went to college and worked so hard to get their degree, found a job in their field, and worked in that field for many years not experiencing any other line of work. These are the majority of the people losing their jobs. Our country is in a financial crisis and the people losing their jobs is not helping. With the budget cuts, employers are being forced to lay off the employees because they can afford to keep them. The only way employers are seeing being able to keep in business is to outsource to other countries. So why keep someone here employed and pay them salary when they can out source to another country where their employees are willing to work for less. Where does that leave our society? It leaves in a bigger financial issue than where we started. With having so many people without employment, we have many people forced into debt. If they are not able to work than how are they able to afford to live and pay for their expenses. I have seen it first hand with my mom. She had a very decent paying job at a big company, that company went bankrupt and had to close down some offices. Unfortunately one of the offices was my moms. Now she had to find another job that pays less and she now has to live pay check to pay check. The only places that may be benefiting from these budget cuts, besides those being outsourced to, are the schools. Many people are going back to school to find a new line of work, try something new.
We are seeing business around us being hurt by the budget cuts as well. One business that used to be helpful to most that is suffering is the public libraries. What used to be a place for those to go for resources is turning out to be pointless. You used to be able to go to the library and use their computers and print things out for free. Now in some public libraries you have to pay. The whole reason for people going to the library to do work is because they couldn’t afford to have the resources at home. Grocery stores are also seeing the effects of budget cuts. Less and less lines are open. Less sale items every day. Small businesses are having to close because they can not afford to keep their doors open and keep employees. Businesses as simple as fast food places are seeing the results of a budget cuts. Prices are rising, extra charges such as certain sauces are being added. Everywhere we go, we see the affects of the budget cuts.
While many of us are suffering, there are those that are not. Those include celebrities and law enforcement. Most of the important jobs are disappearing because their employees are being laid off. But here are the celebrities still living their elaborate lives. Going out every night, living in billion dollar houses, driving expensive cars, and spending endless amounts of money. Why are they not suffering? It seems that the government is always looking out for the rich and the famous, while the people that make the world go round suffer. Another group of people I see not suffering is the law enforcement. I’m all for the police getting new technology that will help in their line of duty, but does that mean top of the line cars. I am starting to see police drive Dodge Chargers and Ford Mustangs. Is that really necessary? No it is not. I drive a Toyota Avalon and it is a very reliable car.
The way I see it is, yes obviously budget cuts are necessary when we are in this financial crisis. But what I do not agree with is the priority level of areas. I see schools being at the top of the list of not getting money cut from them. Are we not taught at a young age that school is the most important area of our lives? So what are we teaching are kids when they see that the school they go to has less money and resources every year? We are teaching them that certain people feel that school is not our/their number one priority. We are teaching them is that as long as you’re somebody famous you will always be taken care of.
The state of California is going through a budget crisis. They are cutting many resources in schools and raising tuition. I believe that they should not cut the budget from schools and rather cut them from other things. For example, they could stop doing unnecessary construction on the roads, give out less traffic tickets, and also spend less money on other countries.
Many classes have been cut and students will not get the opportunity to graduate in time. A lot of colleges are not letting a lot of students register for classes because it is full, and will not even let them be o a waiting list. Also, students that are from out of state have many problems. For example, they cannot enroll for classes because they are on a waiting list, or they have to pay out of state fees.
Not only are schools affected by the cuts, but a lot of other programs are affected too. For example, increasing health insurance costs for people who cannot afford it. Also, people that are low income, who also receive government programs are affected too. They have minimized their medical benefits and dental benefit. The people, who cannot afford health insurance or other benefits, cannot get the proper treatment because they cannot afford it financially.
In conclusion, the budget cuts have affected many people and programs. People with low income cannot afford health insurance and do not get the proper treatments that they or their kids need. The government should cut costs on unnecessary sending on construction of roads.

School Budget Cuts
Budget cuts have taken its toll on many school subjects and extracurricular activities. A main activity it has taken its toll on is sports. Sports are a very easy target for the budget cuts because they do not affect students learning, supposively. The reason they should not cut sports is because it teaches young athletes how to learn teamwork skills that go along with being on a team, it keeps students fit and it gives students something to look forward to after a long day in school.
Sports teach students many great qualities and what it takes to win as a team and have success in whatever sport you are doing. Sports teach students teamwork, an important quality in any sports team. In baseball you can’t do all the work all by yourself in an inning alone. It takes at minimum 2 people an inning. If you tried throwing a ball to a batter without the catcher then the other team with score on you if there is a runner on base. In football a quarterback needs a receiver to get rid of the football otherwise he would get hit hard by a guy running full speed at him. Teamwork teaches students how to work together and it can also teach you how to work hard.
It is important for anybody to get exercise otherwise we would die over a health problem at a young age. A student would gain weight or will feel exhausted all the time and in class not pay attention. Students need exercise and if schools cut this then we can go down in history will the most unfit students. Soccer is a perfect example of staying fit. You are constantly running and during practice many of the drills work on core work, leg activities and endurance. This will help students stay healthier and live an active life. It will also help students to be more focus in class.
When I was in school throughout my whole childhood I was also happy and always enjoyed being in school. The thing that I looked forward to the most was recess. It always gave me something to look forward to. The teacher would sometimes let us out earlier if we got done with our work early or if always made me want to do the best work I could and really quickly. Many students are involved in school sports and are required a 2.0. Many students just go to school to have fun and fail. For those students a sport is what keeps them happy and makes life easier and when the schools require certain grades it makes the students get better grades.
Sports should not be cut from any kind of school because it teaches students skills that classes can’t teach you, sports keep students healthy and it gives students something to look forward to. Although budget cuts have been occurring sports should not be an easy target. Budget cuts go as far as cutting electives and extracurricular activities but it should not go as far as cutting sports.
